Trey Lewis, born in Birmingham, Alabama around 1987, aspired to be a country singer from a young age, influenced by Garth Brooks. After overcoming an alcohol addiction, he learned guitar while working at a smoothie shop. He moved to Nashville to perform and write songs, eventually meeting songwriters Brent Gafford, Drew Trosclair, and Matt McKinney. Together, they created "Dicked Down in Dallas," originally titled "Gone Back to Dallas," with explicit lyrics to appeal to Lewis' concert style. The song gained popularity through TikTok in 2020, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The Los Angeles Times criticized its lyrics, while Lewis released a remix with country rap artist Rvshvd in 2021. In 2022, he toured with Kid Rock on the Bad Reputation Tour.
